What is an NVQ in Business Administration?

Retail is a complex business and no two shops are the same. They have different customers, products, procedures and rules.

If you want to move on in the retail industry, you need to prove that you can not only do your job but that you can adapt to different circumstances, for example a different location, a different type of customer etc. The best way to do this is through an NVQ.

NVQs are qualifications that allow you to prove to your current or potential new employers exactly what you are capable of. They are recognised and respected by retailers up and down the UK, so you can be sure that your time will be well spent.

What is an NVQ in Business Administration?

Your business is only as good as the staff that run it. Regardless of your business plan, resources or experience, if you don't have staff who can adapt to the challenges of this most competitive industries, then you will struggle.

Our NVQs in retail have been designed with the diversity of the retail industry in mind. We know that no two businesses are the same, so we offer a wide range of optional units that allow you to tailor the qualifications to the needs of your business.

What does it involve?

VRQ LEVEL 1

To achieve the qualification at level 1 the learner must complete and achieve 5 mandatory units. The qualification usually takes about 4 months but many learners complete in less time. No prior qualifications are required and each learner will receive a comprehensive initial assessment.

NVQ LEVEL 2

To achieve the qualification at level 2 the learner must complete three mandatory units and five optional units. The qualification usually takes about six months but many learners complete in less time. There are no prior qualifications required and each learner will receive a comprehensive initial assessment

This level is appropriate for sales advisors, customer service advisors or similar staff.

NVQ LEVEL 3

To achieve the qualification at level 3 the learner must complete two mandatory units and six optional units. The qualification usually takes about ten to twelve months but many learners complete in less time. Learners should hold level 2 or an acceptable equivalent and each learner will receive a comprehensive initial assessment

This level is designed for department, section and team leaders as well as specialist sales advisors.

•  Work effectively in own organisation

OPTIONAL

Choose five from any of the following groups

Group 1: Stock storage and order processing (6 units)

Group 2: Preparing products for sale (8 units)

Group 3: Merchandising and selling goods (11 units)

Group 4: Customer Service (4 units)

Group 5: Hygiene and goods movement (3 units)
