What is an NVQ in Food and Drink?

The food and drink industry exists across the UK in a variety of forms. According to recent surveys around 1.7 million people work in the industry. Obviously, this means that the opportunities to forge a career in the area are many and varied, but in order to progress you may find that you need to take the extra step.

If you want to move on in your chosen industry, you need to prove that you can not only do your job but that you can adapt to different circumstances, for example a different location, a different type of customer etc. The best way to do this is through an NVQ.

NVQs are qualifications that allow you to prove to your current or potential new employers exactly what you are capable of. They are recognised and respected by retailers up and down the UK, so you can be sure that your time will be well spent.

EMPLOYER

What is an NVQ in Food and Drink?

Within the food and drink industry, the quality of staff is all important. They are the public face of your organisation as well as the machinery behind the scenes. They are the biggest single influence on whether your customers enjoy their experience, and most importantly, come back again.

The only certain way to ensure that your staff perform to the best of their abilities is to make sure they receive the most up to date training. However, while you can arrange in-house training courses, the question still remains, do your competitors have better programmes?

One of the best ways to ensure they don't is to use nationally recognised programmes which are based on the latest occupational standards. Programmes such as City & Guilds' range of NVQs delivered by the Training Partnership.
